Some of Barack Obama's Powerful Closing Pitch in Ohio Today

New VoteVets Ad Targets Saxby Chambliss

Chambliss was the man who smeared triple amputee Max Cleland to win his seat in 2002.

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel on McCain and Palin

From the upcoming New Yorker article by Connie Bruck:
“I don’t believe she’s qualified to be President of the United States,” Hagel told me. “The first judgment a potential President makes is who their running mate is—and I don’t think John made a very good selection.” He scoffed at McCain’s attempts to portray her as an experienced politician. “To try to make the excuse that she looks out her window and sees Russia—and that she’s commander of the Alaska National Guard.” He added, “There is no question that this candidate is arguably the thinnest-résumé candidate for Vice-President in the history of America.”

Stevens Guilty On All Counts

Now maybe he'll be renovating a cell. Can you say "60" in the senate?

The Blackwater Connection To Yes On Prop 8

Andrew Sullivan reports on one of the biggest contributors to the campaign to strip gay married couples of their equality: Elsa Prince Broekhuizen.

Broekhuizen is the mother of far right mercenary and Bush crony, Erik Prince, of Blackwater fame. She has pumped $450,000 into support for the California ballot issue to ban gay marriage. It is one of the largest private donations to that cause.

It's no coincidence that a family that profited from the Iraq war with the no-bid help of the Bush Administration and the religious right are all in bed together. All share the same theocratic worldview.

Counter the hate here.

With Eight Days To Go, McCain Has Fewer and Fewer Options

FiveThirtyEight now gives McCain a paltry 3.3% chance of winning the election.

Without a single "blue" state within his reach, the McCain campaign is struggling to find any route to victory, trying to hold every possible "red" state.

They seem desperate at this point, with both McCain and Palin campaigning in Iowa in the past two days, despite being down by double digits in polling there. Same thing in Virginia and Pennsylvania — down by double digits. With New Mexico gone blue, Colorado following right behind, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Florida being toss-ups, exactly where do they think they can win this?
