The Thought of "President Palin" Even Scares McCain

Check out the look on McCain's face when he ponders the idea of Palin becoming President:

In case you missed it, here's the still. I feel the same way.

We're in the Home Stretch

With FiveThirtyEight giving John McCain only a 2.8% chance of winning the election at this very late date, we might be tempted to get complacent. Don't!

If you haven't already done so, make sure you vote! Even if you live in a state that's deep blue, vote! With the GOP still using every dirty trick in the book, nothing is certain until Barack Obama is officially declared the winner. The last thing we can afford is complacency.

President Clinton Asks California Voters To Vote NO on 8

In a telephone call to California voters, President Clinton delivers the following message regarding the unfairness of Proposition 8:

"This is Bill Clinton calling to ask you to vote NO on Proposition 8 on Tuesday, November 4th. Proposition 8 would use state law to single out one group of Californians to be treated differently -- discriminating against members of our family, our friends and our co-workers.

"If I know one thing about California, I know that is not what you're about. That is not what America is about. Please vote NO on 8. It's unfair and it's wrong. Thank you."

The calls from President Clinton went to millions of registered California voters overnight.

It's Racism and Homophobia, Neck and Neck, Down to the Wire

In his terrific piece "Hate's Last Stand," Mark Morford writes in the San Francisco Chronicle about the hatred that will not go away, even if Barack Obama is elected and California Proposition 8 is defeated. But it could be an incredible start.

Sen. Stevens: I'm Innocent and Not Convicted

Is there an alternate reality in Alaska... possibly some side-effect of the northern lights or the cold temperatures?

After being found guilty of violating ethics laws, Sarah Palin stared straight into cameras and denied that fact. Now, convicted felon Ted Stevens pulls out the same playbook, denying that he has been convicted.
"I'm not going to step down. I have not been convicted. I have a case pending against me, and probably the worse case of prosecutorial ... misconduct by the prosecutors that is known.

"The case is still pending on the basis of motions we filed for a new trial or a dismissal of the case because of prosecutorial misconduct."
I'd suggest that dementia might have something to do with this, but these "black is white and day is night" denials (OK... lies) seems more a function of party affiliation than age.

New Obama TV Ad Going Up... in ARIZONA!

And McCain is running robo-calls there. He's in trouble even on his home turf and he knows it. Can you imagine Obama beating McCain in his own state?! I wonder how the Illinois polls look. :)

Eagleburger Slams Palin: "Of Course" She's Not Ready

John McCain has proudly and repeatedly held up his endorsement by former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger as evidence that the Republican ticket has firm standing and support within foreign policy circles. Eagleburger even appeared on NPR to make the case for a McCain presidency.

Asked by the host whether Palin could step in during a time of crisis, Eagleburger didn't do McCain any favors.
"...Look, of course not.

"I don't think at the moment she is prepared to take over the reins of the presidency. I can name for you any number of other vice presidents who were not particularly up to it either. So the question, I think, is can she learn and would she be tough enough under the circumstances if she were asked to become president, heaven forbid that that ever takes place?

"Give her some time in the office and I think the answer would be, she will be [pause] adequate. I can't say that she would be a genius in the job. But I think she would be enough to get us through a four year... well I hope not... get us through whatever period of time was necessary. And I devoutly hope that it would never be tested."
Gee... thanks for the "help" Larry.
